AfricMed Ltd
As a privately owned limited company, Africmed Limited has benefited greatly from the incentives offered by GIPFZA not only financially through tax and duty incentives but also through the information which they have given to us.
This has helped us to establish our business during the first twelve months of trading and now in our second year of trading is helping us to expand the business.
We thank GIPFZA once again for their continued support.
Unique Solutions Ltd
Unique Solutions is an ICT based company created in April 2000 with the aim of providing, exceptional service for various technological needs ranging from Computer Hardware and Software Sales, Wireless Interet Services, Local Area Networks, Web Design and Hosting and Power Back-Up Solutions. We are also agents for GTV Satellite Services.
Information and Communications have become increasingly fundamental for social and economic development of our beloved continent. Access to basic communication infrastructure has become a key to increase the flow of information and improve communications. The government of the Gambia in partnership with the private sector has made the area of investing in Information Communication Technology a priority in its drive to achieve its vision 2020 objectives.
Unique Solutions is getting tremendous support from GIPFZA in this area. We have been awarded a special investment certificate for our wireless internet broadband and data services project which qualifies us from exemption from withholding tax and tax on dividends, exemption from turnover tax, customs duties on all equipment and machinery for the project over the next five years taking into account the expansion phases for the network during this period. The speical investment certificate also gives us preferential treatment for the allocation of land for our base stations and future network operations centre. We have taken full advantage of this opportunity in a very big way. The incentives have contributed significantly in the realisation of the first phase of the project. The first phase has covered Banjul to Yundum. The second phase will see us introduce WIMAX and give coverage to the rest of the country and the third phase will see us launch various rural initiatives to compliment our Universal Access objectives in making sure people in the hinterland have access to cheap, and life changing technology in their daily lives.
We have a strong belief that the positive investment climate that prevails in this country, together with the conducive environment instilled by the government of the day and the tremendous support of GIPFZA to the private sector, will continue to drive bold mission statements like ours in the coming days, months and years. GIPFZA has indeed demonstrated that it is a true and vital partner to the private sector.
